At this point, who hasn't heard the expression "abs are made in the kitchen"? It's on Pinterest, Instagram and any health-related blog out there. But can I just point something out? Cupcakes are made in the kitchen too. and pizza. and ice cream. and bacon. and all of the things that taste like heaven.
I love to exercise, and I'll be the first to admit that I love the aesthetic benefits that come from it. I have an internal battle every once in a while about whether or not I should really buckle down, cut the crap(py food) out and unveil a little bit more of the muscle that hides beneath the layer of desserts. After many of these internal battles, I've come to the conclusion that moderation is my friend. I know abs are made in the kitchen, but personally, I have to live a little. And for me, living means savoring a dessert every once in a while or going for the cheesy potatoes when I "should" opt for the asparagus.
I seriously mean it when I say more power to all of you who eat lean, clean and green 100 percent of the time. But as for me, I'll take my abs with a side of cupcakes.
