my wedding day | preparations

My wedding day was, hands down, the best day of my life so far. I am admittedly one of those girls who grew up dreaming of her wedding day her whole life, so you could say my expectations were fairly high. November 9, 2013 exceeded any and all expectations I had. I cried many more happy tears than I expected to, and felt more joy and happiness than I could have ever dreamed.

There are over 700 pictures from my wedding day, so I'm going to break this up into different parts to share my favorites! Today, I'm starting with the preparation portion of the day.

My day started at 5 AM when I woke up and could not possibly go back to sleep. Around 7 AM, my mom sent me a text (from the same house) reading, "Happy wedding day! I love you!".  She showed up in my sister's room (where I had slept the night before) a few minutes later and the tears were already flowing.  And they never really stopped for any of us the rest of the day!

I met my bridesmaids at the hair salon at 8 AM (which I don't have pictures from), and we finished preparations at my parents' house and at the country club where the reception was held/portraits were taken. I'll stop talking now and let you see for yourself :)

Reading a letter from my mom.

My mom giving me my something borrowed and something old. I already had my new (dress) and blue (garter).

I love this picture. It's all hands on deck for getting my grandpa ready for the big day :)

My dad waiting for mine and his "first look".

To give a little more detail on the something borrowed, something old picture… My something borrowed was my mom's wedding band my dad gave her the day that they got married (cue more tears). She currently wears another ring, so she didn't go ringless :) The something old was a handkerchief that belonged to my great great grandma. Cue more tears and a practical use for the handkerchief.

Be on the lookout for photos from our first look in the near future!
