A Peek at Our Engagement Photos!

So our incredibly awesome wedding + engagement photographer became even more awesome last night when she posted a sneak peek of our engagement photos on her blog only TWO days after taking the pictures.

Check out the full post by Megan W Photography {here}. I am obsessed with these pictures and have already looked at them an insane and embarrassing amount of times. This girl is GOOD, I tell you. REALLY good.

I'll do another post once we have all of them, but I just couldn't resist sharing with you all! :)

Five Things

{via}

The lovely Stesha tagged me in her 5 things post that's been traveling around the blogosphere. So today, I'll be sharing 5 facts that you may not know about me :)

1. Once upon a time I auditioned for American Idol.  I think we all know how that worked out seeing as though I'm not the country singing superstar I once desired to be.  It was just one of those things that I had to do.  Every year, I would watch and think to myself, "I can do that!". Obviously the judges didn't agree that I could, but I'm happy that I did it so that I know that it wasn't supposed to work out. I don't have to sit around and wonder whether or not my destiny is to be the next Carrie Underwood :)

2.  I moved to Boston sight unseen. Risky? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely. I know most people probably wouldn't move to a new city having never seen it, and there are probably some people out there who think I'm a little on the crazy side for doing it. What's life without a little adventure and risk though? In my opinion, life is very dependent upon your attitude in most situtations, and only partially dependent upon your circumstances.  So, I moved here with a positive attitude and the confidence that everything would work out. Coincidentally, it did! This experience has taught me so much and has truly allowed me to grow as a person, and I could not be more appreciative of that. I would not change one single thing about my decision to move here even if I could.

3.  I have a short attention span. I mean seriously, in just about everything that I do, and I've always been this way. I get bored easily. I become passionate about new projects and opportunities very quickly, and I love these new things in almost an obsessive way for a while.  And then suddenly, I'm just kind of over it. I know that this is not an admirable trait, but here is the good thing that comes of it: on the rare occasion that I don't get bored with something, I know that I really truly love it. Examples: my fiance, family, my BFF's, photography, this blog, ice cream, and pizza ;)

4.  I've always been the kind of person who has enjoyed having a few close friends rather than a large pool of mediocre friends.  I don't have (and have never had) a massive groups of girlfriends, and I'm totally ok with that.  I thrive on close, intimate relationships where you really get to know a person. Not so much anymore, but there was a point in my life where it bothered me that I didn't have that huge clan of girls to hang out with. I now appreciate the few close relationships that I have. I know that the friends that I have are real, true friends who love me, and I know that they have my back in any situation. And to me, this is what matters.

5. I love my family. Most of us do so that's not really unique, right? To me, it is. Growing up, I think I was under the impression that everyone's family was like mine. Everyone had two parents who not only loved them and their siblings but also loved each other. No one's parents ever fought in front of them. All parents instilled good morals and values into their children that would follow them into adulthood. As I've grown older, I've unfortunately learned that this is not the norm. This is the exception.  The relationship and bond that my family has is hard to put into words. For some reason unbeknownst to me, we just work. My dad recently told my siblings and I that you get out of life what you put into it.  If you put all of your time and energy into your career, you'll have a successful career.  If you put all of your time and energy into a hobby or sport, that's where you'll find success. If you put your time, energy, and love into your family, you'll have a happy one. If there's one piece of advice that I can carry over into the family that Justin and I will have, this will be it.

So hopefully you feel like you know me a liiiittle bit better now :) And I'm going to be tagging these 5 lovely ladies: Lindsay, Leeann, Shanna, Kat, and Jacqueline :)

The Weekend: Photo Prep Edition

Happy Monday, ya'll! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine mainly centered around prepping for our engagement photos which are TOMORROW!! I think it's safe to say that most people don't freak out as much about engagement photos as I am. Seeing as though I love photography and fashion, it only makes sense that I would overanalyze everything about this occasion.  The outfits have finally been chosen though, and they're all ready to go for tomorrow! I'll probably wait until we get the pictures back to reveal them, but there are a couple of sneak peeks above :)

My beloved Hoosiers played on Friday and Sunday, and I'm happy to report that they won! On to the Sweet Sixteen we go! I also tried a few new healthy recipes which I really liked.  I tried my first green smoothie, a yummy greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon and topped with fruit, and some tasty pulled bbq chicken. I'm hoping to share a couple of the recipes with you in the upcoming weeks.

That'll about do it for me, loves. How was your weekend?

I'm linking up with Leann and Sami today!

Pure Barre 30 Day Challenge Results

Well, my friends, the results from my challenge are in...

...and I have good news! I successfully completed the 30 day challenge, and I feel amazing!

As I mentioned on my 16 day update, I have more definition in my muscles which still rings true on day 30. Not only do I see more definition, I feel stronger and can push myself further.  My flexibility has improved leaps and bounds.  I'm not all the way to a full split but I am a whole lot closer than I was previously.  I think the last time I did the splits was about 10 years ago, so the fact that I've improved so much in such a short amount of time thrills me. My form has improved, which is important in barre in order to receive the full benefit from the exercise.  I feel that I find something relating to form during every class that I can improve on just a little bit more, which in turn makes the exercise more effective.

I've had people ask me if it's ok to do this every single day for 30 days. Yes, it is.  Most of us have been taught that we need a day of rest every now and then, which is true for the majority of exercises.  Pure Barre is actually designed so that you can safely do it every day. I even asked Lauren, the owner of PB Boston about this to confirm.  And my body and muscles will double confirm it :)  I never once throughout the 30 days felt like I was harming my body by going every day.

Last, and perhaps most importantly, I STILL LOVE IT!  In addition to the exercise itself, the instructors make the classes so wonderful to go to.  I felt I was being cheered on and encouraged every step of the way of this challenge.  My instructor last night, Courtney, even publicly congratulated me in front of the class on completing my 30 days, which I definitely wasn't expecting.  The personal attention, encouragement, and appreciation like this is definitely part of what keeps me coming back for more.  I'm giving myself a break today, but I will happily be back lifting, toning and burning tomorrow, and I can't wait!

Four Favorites + A Makeover

In case you failed to notice, this little blog got a makeover! I had been itching to do something with it. Sooo.... I did. I wanted to keep the simplicity, but lighten it up a bit. So how do we feel about it? Love it, hate it, wish I would add something else? Please let me know :)

Now moving on to Four Favorites! All of this nasty winter weather has me yearning for Spring and Summer more than ever.  Other than the weather itself, there are a few things that make me look forward to it more than the others.

1. Frozen bevs. No explanation necessary.

2. Dresses. Without tights. My legs may be pasty white right now, but if the temperature rose enough, you better believe I would let those babies out to blind everyone in their path.

3. Sandals. My feet are dying to be set free from their socks.

4. THE BEACH. Ahhhh. Is there anything better than a beautiful summer day at the beach? It's just so relaxing, and I can't wait to add it back into my weekend routine!

What are you most looking forward to about Summer?

I'm linking up with Ashlyn + Kristin for Four Favorites!

Life Lately

Sorry for the radio silence this past week. I promise you this won't be another disappearing act like I pulled a couple of months ago, though :)

So, let me catch you up on the life of yours truly. I wish I could tell you about some really awesome things that have been keeping me away from this little bloggity blog, but that's just not the case...

The photos above are more of a weekend recap. I had a lovely Saturday morning on Newbury filled with PB, a brow wax, and the spotting of the new Nordstrom Rack!

And that last picture? Oh, that's from this morning! Mother Nature is such a doll. She decided to dump some more snow on us the DAY BEFORE SPRING. I have a few choice words for her that I won't share here, but I'm sure you can imagine what they might be :)

As for what else I've been up to? Working, going to barre (it's day 28!), and carefully selecting engagement outfit photos.  This will probably come as a huge shock (sarcasm intended), but the latter of the three is taking up an abnormal amount of my time. Let's just hope all of this snow melts before picture day next Tuesday!

I hope Mother Nature is treating you a little better than she's treating us in New England, but if she's not stay safe and warm out there! Spring has to arrive soon!

Prettify Your Apps

How adorable are those icons?! Really adorable, right? One of my besties texted me yesterday and gave me the scoop on Cocoppa, a new (to me) app that prettifies your icons. I downloaded it immediately and played around with it for an embarrassing amount of time. I knew that I had to share it with you all, because we all love pretty things... do we not?

Above are a few of the icons and wallpaper I downloaded, but there are tons + tons to choose from. So what are you waiting for? Brighten up your Monday, and go snatch this baby up right now!

Pure Barre: Blogger Class + Challenge Update

If you missed {this} post, then allow me to catch you up a little. I LOVE PURE BARRE. And that's really the gist of it.  I had the pleasure of participating in a blogger Barre class this past weekend, and it was great, as expected. Seeing as though I've been doing this since the beginning of the year, this wasn't a new experience for me. It was fun and exciting, though, to be surrounded by people who were new to the class. I like to see people energized about something that I love so much myself :)

As for an update on that good ol' 30 day challenge, I'm truckin' right along.  I'm on day 16, and I'm feeling great! I'm definitely feeling stronger, and I'm seeing more definition in my muscles.  I can actually see my biceps, which certainly isn't the norm in this bod. Even my fiance commented on my toned arms. Two points for Pure Barre.

I worked out with a trainer a couple of years ago for a few months. While it was definitely effective, I didn't gain the results that I'm now seeing, and I dreaded going. There has not yet been one day in this 30 day challenge that I have not wanted to go to class. I even look forward to the 6 am classes. Call me crazy, but I love it, and I can't wait to conquer the second half of the challenge! Bring.it.on.

Transitioning Into Spring

Chambray: Madewell // Yellow Denim: Madewell // Boots: Sam Edelman (similar) //
Scarf: Arden B (similar) // Gold Bracelets: Express (similar) //
Coral Bracelet: Design Darling // Watch: Michael Kors

So maybe I'm pushing it a little bit with the yellow denim, but I WANT SPRING. I mean, it is March after all.  And where I'm from, March=Spring. I guess I haven't fully adjusted to these Boston seasons just yet.

This happens to me every year though. The calendar indicates Spring, but Mother Nature tells me otherwise. I find it difficult to dress properly during these awkward months.  I've found that incorporating bright and vibrant colors really helps to make the transition, though. It looks like I need to stock up on some neon sweaters here in the Northeast, because I don't think Spring weather is planning on making its arrival any time soon :)

What do you do to transition your wardrobe during these in between months?

Keeping Resolutions

Those resolutions we all made so long ago in January have a tendency to float off into the abyss around this time every year. On January 1 you feel so pumped and determined.  "This is the year!", you tell yourself. And then more often than not, it's actually not the year.

So, instead of letting my resolutions fall by the wayside, I'm giving you an update of my progress... or lack thereof in some areas.

There you have it. My results in a nutshell. I obviously slacked off on that first resolution in January, but I'm trying my hardest to improve!  How are your resolutions coming along?

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee... CAPPUCCINO!

Top c/o UStrendy // Leggings: Express (similar) // Shoes: Steve Madden // Scarf: Arden B. (similar)  // Watch: Michael Kors // Bag: Michael Kors (similar)
This is probably the point in the post where you're asking yourself why I titled this post like I did. I'm not even holding a coffee or a cappuccino in the pictures, so what gives? Well, for one it's a movie quote. Two points for whoever can tell me what movie it's from.  And two, the official name of my top is the CAPPUCCINO asymmetric long-sleeved muse blouse. It's a mouth full. I know. But it's also super comfortable, and coincidentally, it would be perfect to throw on for drinking a cappuccino at brunch.

Speaking of brunch, what are all you lovelies up to this weekend?  My weekend will undoubtedly involve some apartment searching and PB classes, as well as a date night on Saturday which I'm really looking forward to! (excuse my run-on sentence) Whatever you do this weekend, make it a fantastic one, and I'll see you back here on Monday!
