Three Months on a Mission

Happy September! For this lovely month, I've decided to partake in Blogtember with Jenni over at Story of My Life.  Seeing as though I've fallen off the wagon here recently, I thought this would be a great way to really get back into blogging.  Check out all the deets {here}. And yes, I missed the first day. But the first rule is that there are no rules :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do?

Number one on my list? Go on a mission trip. Of course we can all take a step back from our hectic lives every now and again and soak it all in. We can take a moment to think about how good we really have it - to think about how fortunate we are.  I want to see how the other half live, though, with my own two eyes.  I want to see these people who are so full of joy and so incredibly grateful for the simple things that we take for granted every day - for water, food, a shower, a smile, a place to lie their heads at night.  And I want to help them in any small way that I can. Because they deserve it. Because I am no more deserving of the life that I have been blessed with than they are.

I want to do it for these deserving people, for God, and perhaps selfishly, I want to do it for myself. I can't even imagine what an amazing and life-changing experience it would be.  I do know one thing for sure - it would absolutely put things into perspective.  How can you really worry about what new fall boots you're going to buy (an admitted current concern of mine) when you have actually met someone else who is worried about whether or not they will eat today?

It's hard to say where this would take me geographically as these kinds of needs stem far and wide, but it would take me to a place in my heart and in my life that I have never been before. And that would be a great enough journey for me.

Glad you hopped on the band wagon! I'm right there with you! However, my post was 'slightly' more selfish than yours. ;) Ok totally polar opposite.

I've done a couple w/ Habitat and they were amazing experiences. I really want to volunteer in Africa! If only someone would pay me to travel and volunteer!!
