Happy Friday!

Happy Friday, ya'll! I just wanted to leave you with this reminder to kick off your weekend. Make it a good one and as the quote says, believe that something wonderful is going to happen :)

Engaged: Lindsay & Joey

We were expecting a beautiful sunny morning the day we shot these, but mother nature had more of a light mist in mind.  These two were awesome, though, and powered through it. Here's a little sneak peek below! To see a few more go {here} and browse through the Facebook album!

Blogging 101: No-Reply Bloggers

It took me 5 months to figure this one out. FIVE, you guys. It wasn't that I didn't hear people complaining about those "annoying no-reply bloggers". I did. But I didn't think I was one of them. And if you are one of them, you probably don't know either.

When people referenced replying to comments, I thought they meant replying in the comment section. Guess what. That's not what they mean.  They mean replying VIA EMAIL. Yes. As in, you leave a comment on my blog post, and I reply to that comment by email and it shows up in your inbox.  My guess is that some of you are surprised right about now.

Now, I did finally figure this out about 4 months in, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it.  I was commenting through my Google Plus account, and for the love of everything that is holy, I could not figure out how to make myself a non-no-reply blogger.

If you find that commenting and posting through your Google+ profile works for you, feel free to ignore the following instructions.  If you want to lose your no-reply blogger status, read on...

1. Go to your Blogger dashboard and click on the icon circled in the screenshot below.

2. After clicking on it, you should see an option that says, "Revert to Blogger profile".

3.  You will most likely get the following message: "You're currently using a Google+ profile on your blogs.  If you switch to a limited Blogger profile, you will be asked to confirm your settings on the next page. Note: links to your blogs from the About tab of your Google+ profile will also be removed."  Don't worry about this, and go ahead and click "Switch to a limited Blogger profile".

4. Go ahead and finish the process until it brings you back to the dashboard. Now, to ensure that you are not a no-reply Blogger, follow the instructions below for those who already have a Blogger profile.

If you are already commenting via your Blogger profile, but you are still a no-reply blogger, do this:

1.  Go to your Blogger profile by clicking on your name/picture in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Click on "Blogger Profile".

2.  Click on "Edit Profile" in the upper right hand corner.

 3.  On this screen, make sure the box next to "Show my email address" is checked.  Save your changes, and you're good to go!

Now, WHY is this important you ask? There are two big reasons in my opinion. First and most importantly, it helps in building relationships with other bloggers. Second, if you reply in the comment section of your post, the likelihood of that person seeing your reply is pretty low.

In a way, this is one of those "which came first? The chicken or the egg?" situations.  If you are a no-reply blogger, you probably don't even know that you can reply to comments on your blog via email. (At least I didn't.) And then, if you don't know that (and obviously no one is replying to you via email), how would you know that you're doing anything "wrong"? You don't! So, I apologize for the length of this post, but I didn't just want to rant about no-reply bloggers.  I wanted to explain what was really going on and help some of you find a solution.  If you don't know if you're a no-reply blogger or not, leave a comment and ask me.  If you are, I'll find some way to get in touch with you and let you know!

Engaged: Jen & Ross

My dear friends, I present to you my first engagement session of the month... Jen & Ross! These two are a.dor.a.ble. Just wait.. you'll see... And if you can't get enough of them here, check out my Facebook page for more!

The Weekend: Sicilian Pizza Edition

First of all, let's talk about how I only took one picture this weekend. Awesome, right? I mean technically I took more than one, but I only took one for this blog post. So I hope you really enjoy that picture.

My weekend started off by ordering pizza. Not too shabby, eh? Here's a tip for you all: when ordering Sicilian pizza, order a smaller size than you think you will need. I ordered a 15 piece pizza. Do you even know how big that is? I didn't until the delivery guy showed up at my door with TWO LARGE boxes full of pizza. And this isn't thin crust, people. This is deep deep dish. Two massive boxes full of deep dish pizza for two people. Needless to say we still haven't finished that off...

In more exciting news, I created a facebook page for my photography biz on Friday! Please feel free to go {here} and give it a little likesy. You'd make my Monday.

Saturday was filled with engagement pictures, new festive candles and the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game. BF is a big big Michigan fan, so I showed my support with a Michigan shirt. Now my friends, here is the one and only picture I took!!

Sunday involved more pictures, losing my debit card (impressive, I know), and Chipotle burritos. Oh, and laundry.

I'm linking up with the ladies for the Weekend Update!

Have a happy Monday!

Friday's Fancies: Football Frenzy

I love football season, but unfortunately my alma mater is not known for their football team.  Basketball? Absolutely. Football? Absolutely not.  What the games lack in excitement and happiness, though, the tailgates definitely make up for.  If you've ever experienced an Indiana University tailgate, you know what I'm talking about.

Big Ten tailgates usually get a little too rowdy for a lady to wear a cute little dress and heels, SEC style.  We prefer fitted tees, sweatshirts, and a pair of jeans. It's the Midwest. I'm just being honest.  That being said, if I were to go back for a tailgate football game, I might class it up a little bit in my old alumni age and wear something like this...

It's not quite a dress and heels, but it's a step up from my fitted tee and jeans, no? I think this outfit is a good balance between fashionable, comfortable, and practical for tailgating. And I need that TB bag. Andrea posted about it yesterday, and it's been on my mind ever since. Who else is in love with it now?

Make your way over to {long distance loving} for a frenzy of football attire ;)

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Headshots: Melissa & Ryan

Melissa contacted me and was in need of a few new headshots. I obviously jumped at the opportunity.  She brought along her friend Ryan to get a couple of photos as well. We ended up taking a few photos other than headshots to mix it up a bit. Check out these two pretty people below!

Blogging 101: Follower Trading

I had sincere intentions of posting this on August 24th, my 6 month blogging anniversary, but things got in the way. To be specific, other things that I wanted to blog about got in the way.  So now that I've kept you waiting for nearly a month, I won't make you wait any longer...

I am by no means a blogging expert, and I know I have a lot to learn. You probably already knew this if you've hung around here very long, though. That being said, I have learned A LOT since my first day of blogging back in Februray.  There are certain things that I wish someone would've told me much earlier, but hey, you blog, you learn. So in an attempt to save some of you from making the same mistakes that I made, I wanted to give you a few blogging tips. I intended for this to be one post with a number of tips, but after writing just one tip, I've realized that this needs to be a series. So friends, I introduce you to tip numero uno of the Blogging 101 series.

Follower Trading is NOT Cool.

There are few things (blogging-wise) that drive me more crazy than comments such as "Want to follow each other?!" Or "I hope you'll follow me back!" or ANYTHING like this. Did I make this realization right off the bat, though? No. I didn't. And I fell into this trap a couple of times. And then one day it hit me. I don't want people to follow me just so they can gain a follower. I want people to follow me because they enjoy reading my blog. Isn't that why we blog? Because we have something to share and because we want people to read and see what we're putting out there?  Most of us don't start blogging so that the number under our "Followers" widget can increase.

I will say, though, that it does thrill me to gain a new follower. The larger your following, the more validated you feel. I get that. Just be sure that you're gaining followers for the right reasons and not because you're trading followerships to gain them. I would personally rather have 50 followers who read and enjoy what I write instead of 1,000 followers who scroll over me in their Blogger dashboard.

The bottom line is this: Stay true to yourself and remember why you started blogging in the first place. This alone should keep you out of the follower trading trap :)

Maternity Photos: Stephanie

So Saturday marked my very first maternity shoot! I was a little nervous going into it, but Stephanie and Josh were so great and made my job pretty easy. Here's a sneak peek at their session!

The Weekend: My First Macaron Edition

Happy Monday my pretties! Sure enough, the weekend came and went as quickly as it usually does. And just as I promised last Monday, I documented this weekend Instagram style instead of serious camera style.

Friday night involved a fun date night at Bar Lola with the bf.  I wore my new polka dot Madewell top and we dined outside and feasted on a tasty selection of tapas.  I would've taken pictures of my food for you like a real blogger should, but it was too dark. So just envision pretty pictures of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, crab cakes, mussels, scallops, and spinach & artichoke dip for me.

Saturday involved lots of college football watching with the bf.  I really don't mind watching football, but when the bf whips up some tailgate type appetizers to along with it, I go from not minding it to really enjoying it.  Food certainly is the way to my heart.  Saturday evening I shot my first maternity session ever in the Public Garden and had so much fun.  You'll see a preview later this week :)

Sunday morning I was up an at 'em early for another photo session.  The crisp Fall chill in the air and the quietness of the city made for a fabulous morning.  I then headed to church where my oh-so-wonderful friend Anna gave me my FIRST MACARONS EVER. And of course I ate them as soon as I got home.  And here's what's up. They are delicious, and there will be many more of them in my future.

So, I think that covers all of the high points.  I'm linking up with Join the Gossip, Sami's Shenanigans, and five30three for the Weekend Update, and you should too :)

Hope you all had a great weekend, and I hope your Monday treats you fabulously!

Friday's Fancies: Autumn Lust List

CLEARLY, I'm all about this Friday's Fancies. I've been discussing my excitement for Fall for a couple of months now, so you already know I have a fall shopping list conjured up in my head.  These are just a few of the items I'd like to add to my wardrobe...

Yes, those are the same jeans I was yapping about yesterday, and yes, I did buy them! How could I pass up a 36" inseam for $49? I couldn't. And that's right people. The value of a pair of pants is directly related to the length of their inseam in my world.

And LAYERING! After seeing Andrea's cute little vest she sported on Sunday, I knew I needed one. So I have to give the credit to her. I think these three pieces would be so cute and cozy layered together for a nice weekend afternoon moseying about town.

I'd also like to snatch up a few pieces of dainty jewelry, and these three definitely caught my eye. Of course I want to do this after I've stuffed my jewelry box to the rim with chunky necklaces, right?

Leopard loafers require no explanation, nor does Starbucks. I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season last Sunday and it did not disappoint. I see many more in my fall future.

To see what everyone else is lusting for this Fall, head over to {long distance loving}!

Have a fantastic weekend!
