Friday's Fancies: Beachy Chic

Happy Friday, my loves! So the weather today is not encouraging of beach-type activites, but tomorrow's sunshine and 92 degrees definitely is! Unfortunately, I don't have any beach time planned for this weekend, but if I did you better believe this is what I'd be wearing...

And obviously I would look exactly like homegirl in the picture... right? Actually, don't answer that question.

I do love these tops from Victoria's Secret.  They are by far the most flattering swimsuits I've ever worn. And I just so happen to adore the print on this one.

Instead of a traditional cover-up, I'm opting for my chambray button-down. It's a nice way to mix it up and get yet another use ouf of this lovely shirt. And clearly, I have to stay fedora-ble. You guys already knew that, though.

Last, but not least do NOT forget the sunscreen!! Hop on over to {long distance loving} for more beachy chic looks!

And of course, have a wonderful weekend :)

Let's Laugh

I just wasn't feeling the Think About it Thursday post this week. And if I can't put my heart into a post, I'm not going to do it. Ok? K. Good talk.

So, instead, I want to share a few of my favorite e-cards as of late. I could seriously look at these things all day and just laugh. and laugh. and laugh some more.

Am I the only one that thinks these are the funniest things ever? I'm a sucker for sarcasm so maybe I am. Even if you don't get quite as big of a kick out of them as I do, I hope they at least put a smile on your face! Happy Friday Eve!

My New Friend, Jill Rosenwald.

I made a new bestie yesterday, and her name is Jill. Jill Rosenwald to be precise. Heard of her?

I hadn't until yesterday so forgive me if this is old news. I am LOVING basically everything on her website. Her aesthetic definitely speaks to me.

Here are a few of my favorite items.

From the top left (clockwise):
Chevron Mono Mug :: $80
Monogram Tray  :: $270 - large :: $200 - small
Hampton Links Vases :: $58 - $156
Chevron Poppy Red Rug :: $73 - $848
Fabrics & Pillows :: $52 - $97

So the prices aren't exactly what I'd classify as practical, but they're not so outrageous that you can't even consider it. I guess you could just consider a purchase from Jill an investment. What would you like to purchase from our new friend, Ms. Rosenwald?

Confession

I want to tell you guys something. See these things?

{via}

Well guess who has two thumbs and has never had one...

You guessed it. It's me. I, Morgan, have never had a macaron.

Is this a blogger faux pas? I feel like it is. The whole blogosphere is in a tizzy over these little things. Everyone is all like, "omg. I had the best macarons yesterday" and "here's an instagram of my macarons". And I'm all like, "omg. I have never even seen one in person. there must be something wrong with me." In all honesty, I had never even heard of these until I started blogging. I know. Your mind=BLOWN.

I probably just lost a few followers. I just want to know, is there anyone else out there who's never had one? And also, are they that good? I mean, I will devour a cupcake or a bowl of ice cream in no time flat, so this mister macaron guy has some pretty stiff competition.

Enlighten me friends. Give me the down and dirty details on the macaron. And for the love of God, someone else confess and tell me they've never had one either.

The Weekend.

Excuse me? How did Monday get here so quickly? This weekend flew by. I can't say I'm thrilled about it coming to an end, but it was pretty fabulous while it lasted. And that's always something to smile about.

Friday:
I kicked off the weekend with this guy. And yes, I did choose the wine solely because of its label. Don't judge. You would've done it too.
Saturday:
Ummmm. I took zero pictures on Saturday. But I did buy {this} coffee table from West Elm! Lindsey recommended it on the e-design board she put together for me, and I must say I am LOVING it!

Sunday:
The bf and I were up and at 'em early to catch the earliest ferry over to Martha's Vineyard.  We rented bikes and did a little bit of island exploration.

The beach we rode along during part of our bike ride.
in Edgartown.
with the bf.
spent some time lounging around at the beach.
After biking about 15 miles, we treated ourselves to some adult bevs.
So all in all, it was a pretty great weekend, and I hope yours were the same! Per the usual, I'm linking up with Join the Gossip, Sami's Shenanigans, and five30three for the Weekend Update!

Have a lovely Monday!

Friday's Fancies: Color Block Crazed

I love the color blocking trend. Between that and print mixing, you can throw on a combination of just about anything hanging in your closet these days. Not a bad deal if you ask me. For this Friday's Fancies look, I stuck with my go to colors of the moment.

I want that necklace SO BAD. Why I haven't ordered it yet is beyond me. It's only 34 dolla no holla. The bag on the other hand I know why I haven't ordered. It's Prada. I don't even need to look at the pricetag to know that it would be an unpleasant surprise for my bank account. But Friday's Fancies is for dreaming, and that's exactly what I intend to do.

Are you all loving the color blocking trend? Head over to {long distance loving} and check out some more looks!

And have a lovely weekend, my dears!

Think About It Thursday

how people treat you is their karma. how you react is yours.

Yes? I think so. Someone treating you poorly does NOT give you the right to do the same to them. Unfortunately, that's usually our natural instinct, and it really shouldn't be.

I think this is especially relevant when interacting with strangers. As I'm sure we've all experienced, people that we don't even know can be downright rude or obnoxious. And sometimes we might reciprocate their actions with the same sort of attitude.  What's interesting about this is that we have NO IDEA what the outlying circumstances of that person's life or day are and what's really causing them to behave in this way.

Maybe this person just lost their job. Maybe a loved one just passed away. And maybe nothing of the sort happened. The point, though, is that we don't know. So, the next time someone treats you less than amazingly, try to be nice. As they say, two wrongs certainly do not make a right. And you just may be a ray of light in the darkness that that person is finding their way through.

...it's a sip of wine, it's summertime...

That's right, my dears. Cue Kenny Chesney's "Summertime", because today is the first official day of Summer! The weather here in Boston is definitely reflecting the seasonal change. We are topping out at 98 degrees today! Believe me. It's a significant change from the enjoyable 70 degree temps we've been experiencing. No complaining here, though. I can finally bust out my favorite sundresses and not worry about getting a bit chilly when the sun goes down. (I did not mean to quote another KC song. It was an accident.)

You know what I love even more than sundresses, though? Wearing them with cowboy boots.

Some of you probably just cringed and made a horrible face at your computer screen. Regardless, I will stand by this trend and defend it until the end. Or until everyone in Boston laughs at me. Whichever comes first.

But really, just look at how cute it can be!

And I promise you, being a cowgirl is not a necessity for rockin' the boots. So tell me... how do you feel about this? Would you wear them? Do you wear them? Or is this an absolute "NO WAY, Morgan. You are CRAZY." in your book?

The Weekend.

After making my way through the day yesterday in a very zombie-like state, I am back among the living today. And as promised, my weekend recap awaits you. I took close to 300 pictures this weekend, so when I say that this is only a small sample, I'm actually serious. So my friends, feast your eyes upon these lovely images.

Friday:
with a few of the bridesmaids and the bride at the rehearsal dinner.
with the bride!
Saturday:
high school friends with the bride pre-wedding!
time to pop the champagne!
she's a Mrs.!
reception with the bf.
old roomies :)

some tears ;)
father/daughter dance.
time for some dancin'
with my parents!
tell me you've seen dance moves better than these, and I'll have to assume you're a liar.
Sunday:
with my sister
celebrating Father's Day :)
and a little family photo :)
So as you can see, it was a great weekend; definitely one of the best I've had in a while. The exhaustion I experienced yesterday was more than worth it. Sorry for the image overload, but sometimes it's necessary. I hope you still enjoyed it :)

And I'm linking up again for the Weekend Update!

Good morning. Please forgive my lack of a weekend recap. Our flight got in this morning at 12:30 a.m. This leaves zero time for selecting and posting pretty weekend recap pictures for you. I feel like this guy:

Except I'm fairly certain I'm not that cute. And I'm probably currently trying to find an IV of coffee to run through my veins. I'll be back in full force tomorrow with a little peak into my weekend. Until then, have a lovely Monday! And say a little prayer that I don't fall asleep at my desk :)

It's Wedding Time, Ya'll.

No. Relax. Not my wedding.

This morning I am en route to good ol' Evansville, Indiana to be a part of this beautiful lady's wedding.

Our friendship dates back to 6th grade, where we initially bonded over being part of the IBTC (I'm still a proud member). During Lisa's first visit/play date (is 6th grade too old for that term?) at my house, we raided my sock drawer and stuffed the bras that we didn't need to be wearing in the first place. This was the very first of many fabulous memories that we would make together. And now tomorrow, I have the honor of standing beside her as she says "I do", and marries a very lucky man.

Lisa got off the hook pretty easily here. If I were closer to home and had access to a scanner, all sorts of beautiful images from 6th grade - present would be showing their faces on here. Unfortunately, I only have access to digital images, so these are all from late high school - present. I will try my best to put these in chronological order...

Junior Year Prom

Senior Year Christmas Dance
Senior Year Spring Break
In college during a weekend visit to Purdue.
Post college - shortly before all 3 of us moved in together in Indianapolis.
Roomies :)
Before a night out in Indy. Fun fact: all 3 of us are in Lisa's wedding :)
Last September before Brittany's wedding.
And of course, I'll be sure to share images from the weekend early next week. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Also, as you can see I changed up the look a little bit around here. I'd love to hear what you think - good or bad! :)
