SO, I did a couple more things other than get engaged this weekend, but let's be honest. Nothing else I did comes anywhere close to comparing to getting engaged!! So, here's what happened...
After a beverage at home, Justin (that's right, I revealed his name!) and I headed out for date night. We enjoyed a nice Italian dinner in the North End at Nico. While walking in a little bit of rain after dinner, Justin suggested we pop in to a nearby restaurant for a drink. Unbeknownst to me, he was stalling in hopes that Mother Nature would get her act together and cut it out with the rain. Luckily for us, she did!
We had planned to look at Christmas lights in the city, and we had both been wanting to see the lights in Christopher Columbus Park pictured above. It's only a 5 minute walk from the North End, so we found our way over there after the rain subsided. It's right on the ocean with a view of the city on the other side. As you can see, the archways are covered in blue lights, and it is absolutely gorgeous.
We walked the whole length of the archway path. We got to about the middle of the arch pictured above when Justin turned and said, "I have something to ask you." He proceeded to get down on one knee, and I proceeded to completely freak out. I remember the words "I love you so much" "I want to spend the rest of my life with you" and "will you marry me?". Honestly, though, I was a big jumble of laughter, tears, and more joy and happiness than I have ever felt in my life and absolutely do not remember every word he said!
In case you were wondering, I definitely said YES!!! The picture on the left was taken right after the proposal.
We went home where a bottle of champagne awaited us and Skyped with my parents. I could barely sleep Friday night due to my excitement. And every time I woke up I had to feel my left ring finger to make sure that there was, in fact, a ring there and to ensure that the previous night hadn't been a dream. It turns out that it was not a dream. This is real life, and I could absolutely not be happier about it. I am so incredibly thankful that God has blessed me with such a wonderful man to spend the rest of my life with, and I can not wait to see what He has in store for us in the years ahead. It's a GREAT life, my friends. Unbelievably GREAT :)
I'm linking up for the Weekend Update!
