Well I certainly fell off of the blogging train yesterday. Sometimes the long weekend will do that to you. And sometimes you have to take an unexpected road trip that does that to you. More on that in a minute...
Friday: After a short half day of work, I retrieved my friends from the airport and my apartment, and we set off to explore the city. Our first stop was Cheers, followed by a walk around Beacon Hill, the Boston Common, and the Public Garden. We then returned home to clean up, prepare for the night ahead, and we may or may not have had a little photo shoot, which you may or may not see above. We had dinner at Legal Harborside where Brittany had her first oyster ever. Side note: don't visit me if you don't want to try oysters. I make all visitors do it. Following dinner we retreated to the Legal rooftop bar for some beverages and bonding.
Saturday: Following brunch and some couch time, we headed out to Faneuil Hall for dinner. We then entertained ourselves at the kiosks around Faneuil Hall before heading to North 26 for dessert and champagne.
Sunday: We were up and at 'em early for a tasty breakfast at Flour in Cambridge and some exploration of MIT's campus. Upon crossing back over to Boston, we walked along the Charles and then headed to the Freedom Trail. Sunday night, we enjoyed a nice Italian dinner in the North End with possibly the most charismatic waiter ever. He also gave us free after dinner drinks. Not complaining. After seeing Paul Revere's house in the North End, we ended our fabulous weekend with a carafe of sangria at the Rattlesnake rooftop.
Monday: After the girls flew out, I received a call from the bf who was in Fort Lauderdale for the weekend. Bf tells me his flight to Boston has been cancelled and there are no other flights to get on. They're all booked. So, bf takes a flight to Newark, NJ. Do you know what this means for gf? It means gf drives 4 1/2 hours to Newark to pick up bf. And gf also picks up two other poor souls who desperately needed to get to Boston. And then bf, gf, and two strangers drive 4 1/2 hours back to Boston. So, THAT, my friends, is why I fell off of the blogging train yesterday. It was an unexpected and interesting trip. But hey, I'm ok with some spontaneity every once in a while ;)
All in all it was a wonderful weekend with my besties! And I also made two new friends on Monday, so that's something to smile about!
Linking up with THE ladies for the Weekend Update.
