First of all, thank you all for your jewelry organization tips yesterday! You were super helpful, and hopefully I can now get my baubles in order :)

If you've read my "Who Am I?" section, you've learned that I love photography. This love was first born on a trip to Gatlinburg, TN with my grandparents. My mom had recently purchased a new camera and decided to pass along her old camera to me. I can still remember trying to masterfully compose pictures of the waterfalls and streams of the Great Smoky Mountains with this 1980-something 35 mm camera. I have no idea how those pictures actually turned out, but I do know that this is when my love affair began.
About a year and a half ago, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased my first DSLR - a Nikon D5000. It's a great camera, but I've never been properly trained on how to use it. So, tonight, I'm taking my first DSLR (online) class via AltSummit, and I am stoked! I'm like a little kid on Christmas Eve. It's ridiculous. I hope that this is the first of many classes I'll take in order to improve my skills. Just so you can join me on this photographic journey of improvement, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite DSLR pre-training shots.
If you know of any other useful courses that you would recommend, please let me know. And if you're interested in taking the class, click here to sign up. It's only $15!

Gorgeous work! I love the last two. Good luck with it!! I need to practice my skills (or lack of!)
Your pictures are already spectacular!
I have a Canon Rebel and need to take a few classes. Let us know how yours was for the $15! That's not bad at all.
Thanks for sharing, Morgan! Hope you guys get moved and settled quickly!

It's an Easy Life
great job!
Lovely photos hun! I will definitely look into the class! My dad has a crazy collection of SLRs & DSLRs except I'm not as adept, nor as knowledgeable, in the art of photography so they're a bit intimidating for me to use. Looking forward to seeing your photography future hun! xo, Megs

Doesn't look like you're having much trouble getting into it! You work looks incredible, Morgan!! I love taking portraits as well - in fact, you can check out some of my photography at www.landilausen.com. BTW thanks for entering my giveaway!

Gorgeous. Love love that last photo, melts my heart!
I will definitely let you know! :)
Thanks, Landi! I looked at your pictures, and they are beautiful!!
Thanks, Aimee! :)
Thanks, Alexa! She was such a doll - it made my job pretty easy!
Your work is amazing...and even if the portrait shots don't fit your blog...you need to showcase them...it's part of who you are and that is what blogging is all about...a reflection of you!!

Shanna
You make an excellent point. Thank you for that inspiration, Shanna! :)
your before pictures rock, so I can't wait to see how you improve after! I too recently got my first DSLR and am having fun figuring out how to use it on my own, but maybe I should look into a "class" too! Let us know how it goes
xx
Great pictures!

Thank you! I will definitely keep you posted on how it goes! :)
These photos are stunning!!
I think I may just have to join the class tonight - I desperately need to get off the auto button on my DSLR!!! Thanks for the tip!
xxx,
Alexandra
The photography class sounds like a lot of fun! Your photos pre-training already look very nice :) I'm hoping that I can save enough money to get a dslr and the lens I want since I have to borrow my school's dslr right now :/
These are incredible!! I am in the market for a DSLR but I'm going to mentor with a photographer for the next 5 months (who uses both nikons and canons) to learn. Can't wait to see more of what you do!
You definitely should! I'm hoping to be off of auto after tonight too! :)
Thank you! And lucky you! I am so incredibly jealous. That sounds like a dream to me!
Thanks! I totally understand saving up for it. Believe me, I wanted one for about 10 years before actually making the purchase!
Thank you Annie!!
Thanks girl :)
Morgan - these pictures are awesome!! This photography class aside, you have a really natural talent and you definitely should continue to post your pictures on the blog. It gives us all inspiration to tackle our interests with the same passion. You have definitely inspired me! I have had my DSLR for almost two years now and I'm lucky if I get a good picture every 100 or so! Thanks to your recommendation, I will look into these classes for sure. Thanks for passing the info along.
