Oh, Jewelry Tree

As you may or may not know, the boy and I are moving on Saturday. The anticipation of moving into a new place eats me alive. I can't tell you how badly I want to purchase new items to decorate with. I've done really well with holding off for the most part. I have decided that my first project upon moving in will be organizing my jewelry. It was a massive disaster yesterday. I wasted many precious minutes of my life untangling necklaces, and the madness absolutely has to stop. I purchased these lovely little bowls from Anthropologie on Saturday and used them to contain my watches, bracelets, rings and earrings.

I plan on purchasing a small table that will be designated "Morgan's Jewelry Haven". These bowls will obviously reside there. My next task is finding a way to store my necklaces in my jewelry haven space. After battling the tangling mess, some of them are hanging on the chest knobs...

This is obviously going to be short-lived. One reason being we're moving in 5 days, and the other being I have no desire to fight my necklaces in order to get into the drawers. So, I'm thinking a jewelry tree will be the answer to my prayers. Of course Anthrolpologie has a beautiful one, but guess who has two thumbs and isn't paying $100 for a jewelry tree. This girl.

Here are some more affordable options. Please try to look past some of the jewelry on the trees.

I like the trees with less branches, but in all reality, it's just not practical. My necklaces would be back in a tangled mess in no time. Which one is your favorite? Or do you have an amazing necklace organizing tactic that you'd like to share with me? If so, I would LOVE to hear!

I love the idea of using bowls! I have a jewelry box that's a full length mirror that opens up. My necklaces are all able to hang and not get tangled. I love it!

Loving the bowels! I have a little glass table and what I think is meant to be a hand towel holder, I use for all of my jewelry. It's so nice to be able to see all of your options and such a good feeling to actually know where everything is! Hope you had a great weekend and good luck with your move!

Those bowls are too cute, but I just can't let myself walk into Anthropologie right now. I found a cute bracelet tree that has been a lifesaver. And, I also got square sized cork board from Target, placed on the inside of my linen closet and pinned cute thumbtacks, then hung all my necklaces there. It has made life much easier! Good luck with the move! So excited for you!

Cute! I have a more minimalist one from Ikea that's saved so many of my necklaces from becoming a tangled mess.

first of all, i adore those little anthropologie bowls... like, a lot!

second of all, i've battled the mass of knotted jewels so, so many times. right now, many of my necklaces are hanging from a closet door. i definitely need to work on organizing my collection.

good luck finding the perfect necklace tree!

ahhhh a hand towel holder...definitely hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Ikea! Duh! Why didn't I think of that?!

I've committed to making a beeline for the clearance section if I must walk into Anthropologie. My only pit stop was for the bowls :)

Thanks, girl! :)

I bought two very similar bowls from Turkey that I plan on using for exactly that. But in the meantime, my perfect organizing "tool" is this: http://www.amazon.com/Hagerty-19888-Hanging-Jewelry-Includes/dp/B0009FHJVE
It looks better in real life than in that pic and it may not be for you if you'd like to put your stuff on display but it's super practical and it's saved my life throughout many moves. Hope this is helpful!

Oohh, I've kind of been dying to get a jewelry tree myself! I think I like the 3rd one best - love the little "nest" for rings etc!

I also store bracelets/watches/earrings etc in a small china bowl in my bathroom drawer. It works pretty well.

yes get a jewelry tree! it helps to look at all your jewelry and pair what looks best with your outfit. plus the necklaces don't get tangled up! good luck with the move

Thanks, Dee! I'll check it out. Something that's practical for moves definitely earns major points :)

I'm with you. I like the little nest too - I'm just not sure if it has enough branches. But really, what tree does?!

Buy an old picture frame, remove the back and get small-holed chicken wire to put inside the frame. Then get some mini double ended hooks (Hobby Lobby has a plethora of choices).Hang one end of the hook on the chicken wire, and your necklace on the other! The best part is, it's completely customizable (size/shape/color, etc)! Best of luck in the move!

The little bowls filled with your jewels are so sweet :) I like tree no.3 the best, followed by no.4 (I've got a thing for gold lately so it caught my eye). Good luck with your move!

I had to do the same exact thing when I moved in with the husband! It's so hard not to buy all sorts of neat things you see even though you really have no idea how it will work until you get it all set up. Oh, and then you move in and that same day you'd like the entire place to be set up and ready to roll... Or at least I did. It didn't quiteeee work out that way. LOVE the necklace trees though, super chic and functional. Good luck and can't wait to see the new place some!

I am actually about to reorganize my jewelry too! I have my jewelry on stands on my vanity, but I am running out of room so I'm thinking I'm going to staple some lace fabric to a frame for my earrings, and make another with a whole bunch of hooks for my necklaces so they can all be neatly displayed. I think those tree organizers are gorgeous, but I don't have the room... Happy decorating! :)

I love decorative bowls for jewelry! They're the best! Jewelry trees are also darling! I love UO for it's cool and funky jewelry displays, but I also love getting smaller and thinner glass vases and throwing bracelets in them as well. The colors pop and look like a decorative piece while still being functional! Hope the move goes smoothly, hun! xo, Megs
