Let's Get Bronzed

Confession: I abused the tanning bed in parts of high school and college. I HATE that I did this, but my 16-21 year old self was too stubborn to see what I was doing to my skin.

Confession #2: I wish God would've blessed me with that beautiful olive skin that looks lovely no matter how "pale" it is.  This may have kept me out of the tanning bed in my earlier years. For one reason or another, though, God wanted me to be pasty white.

As you may have guessed, I still don't have olive skin, but I like to think I have become smarter with age. And so, unlike my high school and college days, I have since heavily relied on spray tans to maintain my golden glow the healthy way throughout the summer.  Spray tans are a great and safe alternative, but they can be time consuming, expensive, and let's face it, they can be kind of smelly. So, a couple of months ago when {av} over at {long distance loving} did a post on self tanners, I scoured the comments to see what every one's personal favorites were.  There were an abundance of people swearing by St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, so I gave it a try. And here's what's up: IT ROCKS.

I'll be honest with you guys. I flat out suck at applying self tanner. I usually end up looking like the dreaded orange and white zebra, which is why I've resorted to spray tans in the past. This bronzing mousse is SO easy to apply, though, that even I would have to make a serious effort to screw it up. I highly recommend purchasing the applicator mitt, and watching the instructional video before applying.

The color isn't overwhelming, and it isn't orange. It has more of a brown tint which is lovely. Also, it doesn't stink to high heaven. SCORE SCORE SCORE.

I took the pledge to be a Sun Savvy Blogger, so I will definitely be self tanning it up and lathering on the sunscreen all summer. Check it out if you haven't taken the pledge yet.

Have you all tried this? Are there other self tanners you swear by? I'd love to know!

xoxo,

me

I hate that self tanners smell & I hate that it lasts & lasts on your skin, even when its effects have slowly faded. I will definitely keep my eye out for this when I need a little boost! Thanks for tips! xo, Megs

OMG I bought this before I left DC and I was scared I'd end up like an orange! You've made me utter a sigh of relief! Can't wait to try it and let you know how it turns out! Super psyched! x

Dee, this is too funny. I bought it and it sat on my bathroom counter for at least 2 weeks because I had the same fears as you. Luckily, it works like a dream. Can't wait to hear how it works for you! :)

I did the exact same thing in high school!!! WHHHHYYY did no one tell us we looked a very unattractive shade of cheeto orange?? (at least I know I did!) And now I wear SPF2349092834 anytime I go in the sun to try to make up for it! I can't wait to try this sunless tanner- thanks so much for sharing!

Keep in touch!

definitely going to try this one-- i too am a terrible sunless-tan-applier. how often have you used it (3x week, etc)?

Morgan Stone said...

I'm glad to know I'm not the only awful sunless-tan-applier out there :) I've used it twice so far this week. I feel like it's given me better color after using it the second time because it's layered a little bit. I think I could probably not apply the rest of the week and still be happy with the color. So I'd say 2-3x a week depending on how dark you want it to be!
