Here's To You, Bicycle

If you are the slightest bit familiar with Indiana University, then you've probably at least heard of the Little 500 (also affectionately known as the greatest college week of all time). My guess would be that if you've heard of it, you associate it with a campus full of rowdy students binge drinking for a week straight and then somehow stumbling their way to the bike race on Saturday. Or sadly not going to the event at all even though they've celebrated it for a week straight. Irony at its finest.

I'm probably biased, but my memories of this epic bike racing event are much sweeter and sober than those previously mentioned. (Although, I may or may not have celebrated that way during my first two years of college.) I could write a novel about this, but I'll keep it short and sweet. As a member of the Steering Committee for the Indiana University Student Foundation, I was fortunate enough to have a hand in planning and executing this marvelous event. These are without a doubt some of my fondest memories of college, and I made some fabulous lifelong friends in the process. Little 500 and the organization who plans it, IUSF, are very near and dear to my heart. This weekend, Little 5 takes place on IU's campus, so today I'm raising my glass to Little 5, and going all out with, you guessed it, bicycles.
