Art-inspired Fashion: The Loopy Dress

I want to start off by saying that the Alt Summit DSLR 101 class was CRAZY good. I don't know when they're offering it again, but TAKE it if you want to get yourself off of auto mode on your camera.

Ok, I'm definitely going out on a limb here so please bear with me, friends.

The Lisa Perry dress photoed above was inspired by the art on the right, Jeff Koon's "Loopy". Now I will make no bones about it - I wouldn't have that art anywhere in my house on a bet. The dress on the other hand, I haven't made a final decision on.

What do you think of it? I can't decide if I would ever wear it, but there's something about it that's very Carrie Bradshaw-esque, and that's always a plus. Can't you just see her prancing around the streets of NYC in this?

It's definitely not practical, but I think for the right event, venue, or city, it just might be fabulous. It definitely caught my eye when I first saw it. I mean, it's not everyday that you see a white fluffy dress with whipped cream and a cherry on it, right?

I'm really interested to hear what your take on this dress is. Would you wear it or is this completely out of the question for you? If you would wear it, how would you style it?

At first I wasn't sure if what I was looking at on the bodice was an optical illusion or not...I was quite confused. I have to admit I'm definitely not avant garde enough to pull that look off. Now, if it were plain white on the bodice, I'd absolutely wear it. :)

Cut the top off and I am in! ;) I definitely could see this on Sex in the City!! I must admit, it is a super cool concept and fun take on an art piece.

That dress is definitely artsy!!! I'm not cool enough to pool it off, but it's totally cute!

It's such a fun piece! Sometimes we need a little crazy and out there in our wardrobe. The fact that it was art-inspired makes it that much better! Adorable! xo, Megs

I know what you mean - I feel like I could just look at it for hours trying to figure it out.

Definitely agree!

Morgan Stone said...

Yes! I think I would be craving sugar the whole time I wore it if I owned it :)

Morgan Stone said...

Yeah, it's definitely a cool concept!

Morgan Stone said...

Yes, cutting the top off would for sure make it more wearable!

Morgan Stone said...

Haha, I know! It definitely takes a minute to figure out what's going on!

Morgan Stone said...

Yeah, it's definitely not something that everyone would want to wear. I think it would be great on the right person with the right personality and look!

You're right - that dress does say "sex & the city" to me, which means it's probably way cooler than I could pull off! And I agree about the Koons piece, not my taste at all, though it probably sold for a gagillion dollars!
