Return of the Mac

Hey guyz! Yup, I totes spelled "guyz" with a "z". First of all, I have an update for you! xoxo, me now has it's own Facebook page! Who's excited?! ME. And hopefully you! If you "like" it, it will make me very very happy. Now on to the meat and potatoes of today's post...

Today, I'm meandering a bit off of the beaten path and getting a little techy on you. I hope you can handle it.  The reason being, I want YOUR advice on this. So read along and help a sista out.

I need want a new Mac. The Mac I have now is approaching his fifth birthday (yes, he's a boy), and sadly, I think it's time for us to part ways.  He is this version:

Real old school. I know. I swear it was cool at the time, though.

Now, I know I could purchase a PC and life would go on. But I LOVE Apple products, and I LOVE how smart my MacBook is, and well, basically I'm going to get a Mac no matter what. I've done a little bit of research thus far, and I know that I definitely want a laptop. So, my choices are the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro.  The main tasks I will use it for are blogging, photo editing, internet surfing, and maybe skyping with the 'rents should they be so lucky. I have Photoshop CS5 on my Mac right now, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to transfer it to a new computer. So, assuming that I can't, I need this new computer to have good photo editing abilities. For the sake of my piggy bank, I'm not going to buy a new MacBook AND Photoshop at the same time.
MacBook Pro
MacBook Air
I know that there are at least a few MacBook addicts out there that can steer me in the right direction here, so please let me know what you think!

xoxo,

me

Hey Morgan,
I have a MacBook Pro & I love it... Mine is about a year old. I also have the iMac. I've used both to work on my YouTube channel as well as blogging and other artsy things. They do more than well in both aspects. If you can't afford the Photoshop, which is complete understandable considering Adobe essentially asks you for an arm & a leg, there are plenty of sites with Photoshop editing skills... some are free. I've used PicNik... which will be assumed into Google at some point, but there are others... and again, they're free. I would definitely go with the MacBook Pro but poll around and see what everyone else says. Hope this helps, hun! xo, Megs

I would recommend the MacBook pro. I had one before I switched to an iMac and it was my favorite. The people at the apple store should be able to help you in switching all of your old programs over. When I turned my new computer on the screen looked just like it had on my laptop- only much bigger! Good luck!

I bought my Mac about 4 years ago and it's held up. I am not sure I'll stick with Mac when I get a new one though...I've never learned how to properly use this one! Sad right?

Too funny! It's definitely a change to learn how to use one. I was forced to because the journalism school in college only had Macs in the computer lab... and now I'm hooked!

I stumbled across this via twitter. I have the same macbook as you only 2yrs old though my IPad2 does all the lifting while on the road. It might be worthwhile to upgrade the memory & RAM for the short run if it hasn't been already, would make it like new again. Either way it might be wothwhile to hold out for a bit. Rumour has it that the new macbook pros will all become "airs" then you will have the best of both worlds. Good Luck, you can't go wrong with Mac.
